This research study consists of asking the volunteer (aged 18 and over) to answer research questionnaires related to intrinsic and extrinsic barriers to seeking mental health services. The online LimeSurvey software features may allow you to pause and resume later at your own pace. Participants will have the option to be entered into a raffle for one of six $25 dollar gift cards to Amazon.Your participation in this study is greatly appreciated.

Hello. My name is Ethan Xiong, a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy.  I am inviting you to participate in my doctoral dissertation study. Participation in this study is entirely volunteer and it is expected that most participants would complete the research study between 25-35 minutes. The purpose of this research study is to understand cultural differences and relationships between Hmong and non-Hmong American populations regarding attitudes and beliefs toward barriers to mental health services. Because my study is focused on cultural contextual discussions in mental health services initiation, I want to ensure that a diversity of voices across all cultures (racially and ethnically) are included in my sample. The data collected will be kept confidential and no identifying information will be use in the study or thereafter. This dissertation is supervised by Dr. Barry Dauphin, a faculty member, and the director of clinical training in psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy.

If you used an identifying token to access this survey, please rest assured that this token will not be stored together with your responses. It is managed in a separate database and will only be updated to indicate whether you did (or did not) complete this survey. There is no way of matching identification tokens with survey responses.
